Thank you for choosing independent designer-makers practising traditional skills. Please take a moment to read through this ‘small print’ for bespoke books and those describe as 'made to order'. If you have any queries do get in touch before making payment.
Leathers are a natural product and will show slight natural markings on both their inside and outside. Grain size, texture and pattern varies within single skins and may vary across a book. These are normal features of this natural product and reflect the size, type and life of the animal. Raw edges, if chosen, will likely show clip marks, discoloured or colourless areas as a result of the tanning process. In all cases, the quality, beauty and functionality of your book remain first class. I always use quality leather from a British tannery with an excellent reputation and I cut pieces from whole skins to minimise marks as much as possible.
Colours may vary slightly from the colour shown on your device due to screen variations. Colours may vary slightly between dye lots so two or more books bound in the same colour may differ slightly. If colour matching is crucial to you, please get in touch.
Most of my books contain hand-torn paper; the resulting 'deckle' edge on the page provides an authentically handmade look and feel. Some books, depending on size and format, will have straight-cut edges. If either is of importance to you, please get in touch before purchasing to enquire about other options. Handmade cotton rag paper varies in surface, texture and page size.
The titlepage (first page) of your leather Memory Book, Wedding Guest Book or Journal can be printed with text and/or a logo of your choice; further pages incur a fee. Please send your text to me by email before purchasing so I can confirm what you request is possible. After receiving payment I will design your page(s) at my earliest opportunity and email you a sample for your approval / amends. One round of amends is included in the price, further rounds can be made for a fee; please enquire.
Pages can also be printed on Sketchbooks with recycled cartridge paper.
Please note that printing on handmade cotton rag paper, such as is used for Wabi Sabi Sketchbooks, will not be of the same quality as printing on machine-made papers. Additionally, some stray ink may appear around the edges of pages although everything possible will be done to minimise this.
Purchasing finalises your order and no further changes can be made to the details of your bespoke or made to order book. Purchasing can be made online from a product listing using any of the usual payment methods, or from a pro forma invoice by BACs.
Please allow around 4 weeks plus delivery from the UK for me to make bespoke and made to order books. Most orders are sent using Royal Mail tracked and insured services which require a signature on delivery, something you may want to bear in mind when specifying your delivery address. You will always receive a tracking number for your shipment. Please supply a contact telephone number incase the delivery partner in your country needs to contact you. You are responsible for any 'authorisation to leave' arrangements you have in place and any loss or damage that occurs as a result of this is your responsibility.
I regret that bespoke books and those described as 'made to order' (this equates to anything not in the Ready to Ship Collection) are not eligible for return, refund or exchange unless in the unlikely event that they arrive damaged or not made to the specifications in your invoice or product listing, in which case please contact me so I can resolve any issues. If you have placed your order and wish to cancel in light of these Terms & Conditions please contact me ASAP - if I have not yet ordered your materials and / or started work on your book then cancellation will usually be possible.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
