Leather Books Info & Care

Leather Books

Your book has been individually hand bound in the finest goatskin or calfskin in the 15th century Longstitch with Linkstitch style (Simple Wraps & Mini Journals are bound in the Pamphlet Stitch), an archival binding that is both durable yet flexible, functional yet elegant. With care its functionality and beauty will stand the test of time, for your lifetime if not beyond!

Care

It is best to store your book flat when not in use, such as on a desk, rather than standing on a bookshelf. Please protect your book from rain, liquids or oils as they may mark the leather. Finally, please keep your book away from prolonged periods of direct sunlight, for example leaving it on a windowsill.

Inclusions

Use acid-free glue for your inclusions, such as glue dots or photo corners or spray mount. Washi tape is also great - and colourful! If you need any help sourcing these, let me know.

Refills

Don’t forget to use my Refill Service for your leather Journals and Sketchbooks I offer this service at cost price because I value sustainability. To arrange a refill get in touch, I'd love to help.

Leather

Leathers are a natural product, many are fair trade and organic and as such may show slight natural markings on both the inside and outside. This is a normal feature of natural grain leather and is far preferable to using grain-corrected (machine-embossed) leathers. Raw edges if chosen, will likely show clip marks, discoloured areas or colourless areas; these are a normal result of the tanning process. The quality, beauty and functionality of your book remain first class.

Colour Matching

Colours may vary slightly from the colour shown on your computer or mobile device due to monitor variations. Colours may vary slightly between dye lots so two books in the same colour may differ slightly. This is a normal aspect of using natural products. If colour matching is crucial to you, please get in touch.
