• Lay-flat binding The exposed spine binding is not only attractive, but also very practical, as it allows the pages to stay open a table. That means this leather sketchbook is easy to use; you can work right into the spine of each page and across a double page spread. And there's no need to weigh down the pages or hold them open with binder clips.
• Versatile surface I bind these Sketchbooks with Seawhites 140gsm 'cupcycled' cartridge paper as a good all-rounder surface that's suitable for a variety of different media and techniques. It's sized and so will take light watercolour, writing in fountain pen or calligraphy with dip pens. It has a light tooth, great strength and withstands an eraser very well, so it's also ideal for drawing in pencil and other dry media, too. You're welcome to request an alternative paper, see below.
• Archival quality The cartridge pages are acid-free and archival, so colours remain as vibrant and true as they day you laid them onto the page. Because the binding is hand-stitched, and does not use any adhesives, this book will last your lifetime - and beyond. 
• Heritage craftsmanship The Longstitch with Linkstitch is a Medieval binding used for council documents and other records, which needed to open fully yet be robust for repeated, prolonged use. The pages are folded and torn by hand the traditional way, and there's a discrete colophon printed on the final page with details of maker, binding and materials for handmade authenticity.
