Would you like to learn to make a variety of different bindings that you can use as journals, sketchbooks or scrapbooks, either for everyday use or to incorporate into your own artistic practice? Join me at my Spring 2016 Bookbinding evening class.
See what happened at last year's course over on the blog.
DATES: Thursday 21 April 2016 at 6:30 - 9pm for 6 weeks.
DETAILS: This course is suitable for absolute beginners or those with a little experience. It involves folding, measuring, cutting, glueing, sewing and choosing colour combinations. By the end of the course you'll have made at least 6 books to take home, you'll have a good grounding in a variety of book forms from different cultures and historical periods, and you'll have had fun and made some friends, too!
WHAT TO BRING: I provide all tools, although you are welcome to bring your own favourites. Materials will be provided, but please also bring your own interesting papers to cover your books, such as quality wrapping paper, your own artwork, plant fibre paper, pages from old magazines, maps & books (the larger the better, but bring what you have and we can discuss what you might like to use during the course).
VENUE: Artisan Community Art Studio. 1005 Wimborne Road, Moordown, Bournemouth BH9 2BS. Known as 'First Point Plus', the venue is opposite the Holly Tree Pub - please come down the slope, entrance on the right. Blue badge holders can park next to the entrance, other parking is available if you continue around the back. To arrive by bus use routes 4 and 2, alternatively route number 5 bus stops are 10 minutes walk away. Please feel free to bring a snack, drinks making facilities are available. The venue is wheelchair accessible
